About this role
Assembly Technician — AES Manufacturing
North Kansas City, MO
Monday–Friday | 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
AES Manufacturing is hiring Assembly Technicians to build complete safety equipment from painted metal parts, hardware, and other components.
If you enjoy working with tools, fixing things, and seeing a finished product come together, this position may be a good fit. Experience with repairs, maintenance, handyman work, or other hands-on mechanical projects is valuable. Previous manufacturing assembly experience is helpful but not required.
We provide hands-on training and all tools needed for the job.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble complete products from start to finish using hand and power tools, including wrenches, ratchets, impact drivers, drills, and rivet guns.
- Follow job travelers containing parts and hardware lists, assembly drawings, and expected production times.
- After training, gather the parts and materials needed for assigned jobs, including using a forklift following company training and authorization.
- Check parts and workmanship throughout assembly, including fit, alignment, hardware installation, and proper operation.
- Recognize and report damaged, incorrect, or poorly fitting parts. Make minor fit adjustments within your training and seek guidance when needed.
- Apply product and safety decals neatly, straight, and in the correct locations.
- Palletize finished equipment for shipping or place it into designated storage.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safe work practices.
- Communicate questions, shortages, quality concerns, and equipment problems promptly.
- Work toward expected production times while maintaining quality and safety.
Finished equipment receives an additional check before shipping.
What We’re Looking For
- Practical mechanical aptitude and basic familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Attention to detail and pride in producing complete, correctly assembled equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn to use assembly drawings and parts lists.
- Basic tape-measure reading skills to the nearest ½ inch; measuring tools are provided.
- Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and learn unfamiliar tasks.
- Ability to work independently after training and cooperate with others when assistance is needed.
- Dependable attendance and consistent effort throughout the workday.
What to Expect
Work assignments vary. You may assemble the same product for several days or complete different jobs throughout a shift. Some tasks involve repetitive movements.
Approximately 80% of the workday involves standing and other assembly activities, including bending, kneeling, reaching, and gripping tools. Some components weigh approximately 55 pounds. Employees are expected to request assistance or use available lifting equipment when needed to handle parts safely.
The shop is heated in winter and is not air-conditioned. Fans are provided during hot weather.
Jeans and steel- or composite-toe work boots are required. Other required personal protective equipment is provided.
