As an Auto Glass Training Manager on the Portland Glass team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the skills, knowledge, and success of auto glass professionals across our locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts.

You’ll lead the strategy, delivery, and evaluation of our auto glass training programs while helping technicians, mentors, and supervisors reach their full potential. From developing new training programs to coaching future technicians and supporting certification, your work will directly contribute to the quality of our service and the success of our teams.

As an Auto Glass Training Manager, you will:

  • Lead the implementation of Portland Glass auto glass training programs.
  • Prepare candidates to meet program standards and earn certification within 12 weeks.
  • Identify and train mentors who will guide technicians through their training and certification journey.
  • Train mentors and supervisors on effective on-the-job instruction and performance evaluation.
  • Evaluate trainee progress and adjust training plans to support individual success.
  • Partner with leaders, managers, and supervisors to identify training needs and opportunities.
  • Coordinate training schedules across Portland Glass locations.
  • Develop training policies, programs, and schedules based on business needs, processes, products, procedures, and services.
  • Create and maintain training manuals, assessments, reference materials, visual aids, and other learning resources.
  • Develop new-hire training plans and deliver required safety and regulatory training.
  • Support Dow and other vendor training and certification programs, including tracking and renewing certifications.
  • Serve as the primary contact for vendor systems and programs, including ADAS and Autel.
  • Coordinate training opportunities and follow up on vendor-related concerns.
  • Maintain accurate training records, licenses, and certifications.
  • Partner with leaders to review training content and evaluate trainee comprehension.
  • Coordinate training opportunities with colleges, vocational schools, manufacturers, and trade associations.
  • Stay current with emerging training practices, methods, and techniques.
  • Maintain knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and communicate applicable requirements to employees.
  • Participate in managers’ meetings as requested and model the standards and behaviors expected across the organization.

Required qualifications:

  • At least five years of related experience as an auto glass technician, lead technician, master technician, trainer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the home services industry or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of field operations concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Understanding of profit-and-loss statements and the factors that drive profitability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and positively influence behavior.
  • Confident public-speaking and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
  • Effective time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop others.
  • Outgoing demeanor and a positive, professional attitude.
  • Ability to travel weekly, up to 75% of the time.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.

Competitive Salary: $85,000 - $105,000 annually – Based on Experience

Travel & Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires travel up to 75% of the time to Portland Glass retail locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
  • Must be willing to work at each assigned location.
  • Regularly sit, stand, and move freely while operating office equipment and handling light materials in office and shop environments.
  • May use a computer for extended periods, requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.
  • Must communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and in writing.
  • Periodically walk, climb, bend, stand, push, pull, lift, and stoop.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
