What you’ll do: · Prepare railcar surfaces for painting, coating, and lining applications, including cleaning, masking, blasting, and other required surface preparation. · Apply exterior and interior primers, paints, coatings, and lining systems according to applicable specifications and procedures. · Prepare, coat, and finish metal and/or other surfaces. · Operate conventional and airless spray equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on metal and other types of surfaces. · Mixes and applies alkyds, epoxies, gel coats, urethane, zinc epoxies and waterborne paint systems according to a prescribed formula. · Adjusts nozzles on spray guns to obtain the proper dispersion of the spray and monitors the flow and viscosity of the paint for solution. · Proper use of mill gauge and monitors pressure amount. · Cleans paint lines, paint guns, and performs other cleaning preventative maintenance to ensure that painting apparatus remains in working order. · Regulates the temperature and air circulation in drying ovens. · May also perform duties of Prep Worker and Blasting. · Initiates and maintains all applicable paperwork as required. · Follows all safety rules and practices. · Performs other duties as assigned. · Prepares materials, surfaces and structures for coverage with paint, laminate, rubber or other material. · Applies coatings to specifications and completes detailed special applications as appropriate to the surface and final product requirements. · Performs at all level 1 + · Proficient at spray and hand-held application of exterior coatings · Proficient at sealing/baking final exterior coatings · May apply interior primer coats · Performs other duties as assigned. What you’ll need: · 1-2 years’ experience · Ability to follow verbal or simple written instructions and procedures · Ability to work in industrial environments indoors and outdoors. · Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift materials as required. · Ability to wear required PPE including respirators, blasting equipment, and fall protection. · Railcar painting, lining, coating, or blasting experience. · Experience applying interior railcar coatings or linings. · Ability to travel up to 80% and work extended schedules when necessary · Valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
