About this role
A full-time, year-round role at the heart of our operations. As our Diesel Field Mechanic, you'll maintain and repair our entire fleet — from snowcats and excavators to material handling equipment and heavy trucks — ensuring reliability across all seasons. You'll work both in the shop and in the field, responding to breakdowns on active job sites and performing preventative maintenance that keeps our crews running on schedule.
Responsibilities- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair the full fleet: snowcats, loaders, dozers, excavators, graders, heavy trucks
- Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance — fluids, filters, lubrication, belts, hoses, safety checks
- Use electronic diagnostic tools to identify faults in electrical, hydraulic, and engine systems
- Weld, fabricate, and replace structural and mechanical components as needed
- Maintain complete service records, work orders, and parts inventory
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns at active job sites
- Keep the shop and all work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment
- Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and modern diagnostics
- Welding and fabrication experience strongly preferred
- Technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics strongly preferred; high school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver's license required; CDL a plus
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather conditions including extreme cold
- Comfortable working both in a shop and on active construction sites
$35.00 – $45.00 per hour, depending on experience. Schedule: 40 hours/week minimum. Overtime, weekend, and after-hours shifts may be required during peak construction seasons or equipment emergencies.
