Waterbury, CT – On-Site Position

THIS IS A FULL-TIME, ON-SITE POSITION IN WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT. REMOTE/HYBRID WORK IS NOT AVAILABLE.

Candidates must currently reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. 

 

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our accounting team in Waterbury, CT. This position is responsible for supporting accounting operations through the preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of financial records.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and record journal entries in the general ledger.
  • Perform bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting.
  • Support the preparation of internal financial statements and reports.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls.
  • Provide documentation and support for audits.
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting records.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Identify and recommend accounting and process improvements when appropriate.
  • Work closely with accounting leadership and other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years Accounting Experience
  • Must have QuickBooks online experience.
  • Prior experience in the construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, or other skilled trades industry is required.
  • Must be able to work on site in Waterbury
  • Strong balance sheet account reconciliation experience required
  • Prepare and record journal entries in the general ledger
  • Perform reconciliations of bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting
  • Support the preparation of internal financial statements and reports
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
  • Provide documentation and support for audits
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting records
  • Identify and recommend process improvements when appropriate
