Position Summary
As a Lead Excavation Installer, you'll lead excavation crews in installing underground utilities,
piping, and drainage systems, operating heavy equipment while mentoring the apprentices and
technicians working alongside you. You're the one making sure the job gets done safely and
right, from the first cut in the ground to the final inspection, in a trade that offers real, long-term
job security.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead excavation crews in the safe and efficient installation of underground piping, utilities,
and drainage systems
• Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment, including excavators, trenchers, and skid
steers
• Ensure accurate trenching, grading, backfilling, and compaction per project specifications
• Install underground piping, conduits, and related systems in compliance with state and local
codes
• Read and interpret blueprints, job specifications, and site plans to guide installations
• Train, mentor, and support apprentices and technicians to develop their skills
• Inspect completed work for accuracy, safety, and quality standards
• Communicate professionally with customers about job scope, progress, and site conditions
• Ensure proper care and maintenance of company vehicles, tools, and equipment
