Full-time NYC Metro / Project Sites M–F, Day Shift Apply Now About the RoleRehab and Design is a self-perform contractor renovating multifamily and public-housing units across the NYC metro area, largely in occupied buildings. We are hiring skilled Painters/Plasterers to prep, patch, plaster, and paint interior surfaces to a clean, uniform finish — working neatly and considerately around residents.
Key Responsibilities- prepare surfaces: scrape, sand, patch, and repair walls and ceilings; skim-coat and plaster to a smooth finish.
- tape, spackle, and finish drywall joints; feather and blend repairs into existing surfaces.
- prime and apply paint and coatings by brush, roller, and sprayer to a uniform, professional finish.
- protect floors, fixtures, and residents' belongings; mask and clean up thoroughly each day.
- select and mix coatings and match colors and sheens per finish schedules.
- work to punch-list quality standards and follow all site safety requirements.
- 3+ years of professional painting and plastering/taping experience.
- Skilled in surface prep, skim-coating, and drywall finishing to a smooth, paint-ready result.
- Proficient with brush, roller, and spray application.
- OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 preferred) and, for NYC sites, a valid SST card (or ability to obtain).
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Experience in occupied multifamily or public-housing (NYCHA) renovation.
- Lead-safe (RRP) certification a plus for older housing stock.
- References (personal and professional).
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and scaffolding, reach overhead, stand, bend, and work on your feet throughout the shift, with appropriate personal protective equipment.
