Your mandate as Senior Electrical Design Engineer is a high-level position responsible for the design, development, and optimization of transformers. As an experienced engineer, the holder of this senior position is expected to provide technical leadership on complex projects, mentor less experienced engineers, and solve advanced engineering problems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, promoting innovation, and ensuring that all designs meet the highest standards for performance, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities

- Lead the design and development of transformers or related components, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and customer specifications.
- Conduct advanced technical analyses to optimize product performance, reduce costs, and improve efficiency while addressing complex design challenges.
- Conduct and oversee design-related failure analyses, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures to improve product quality and reliability.
- Provide technical leadership during design reviews, guide decision-making, develop prototypes for testing, and ensure compliance with project objectives and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing engineers throughout the product development process.
- Oversee technical documentation, including design specifications and test plans.
- Actively participate in electrical test validation activities as part of manufacturing engineering.
- Manage the design of complex cores and coils.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting efforts to optimize processes and product design.
Qualifications
We are looking for:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- More than 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a specialization in the design of transformers or related products.
- If the candidate holds a Master’s degree, more than 5 years of experience is acceptable.
- Proven ability to lead design projects, from design through production.
- Excellent understanding of the fundamental principles of transformer electricity.
- Good understanding of the electrical characteristics of transformers (impedance, resistance, turns per volt, turns ratio, etc.).
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements related to transformers or their components is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, with the ability to acquire and apply technical knowledge without supervision.
- Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and set priorities.
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $120 000 to $140 000
