About this role
Role Overview The Lifecycle Manufacturing Engineer owns the product’s manufacturing strategy from early design through production and sustaining, ensuring manufacturability and alignment with quality, cost, and delivery objectives. This role defines manufacturing requirements, identifies and mitigates risks, and guides design and manufacturing tradeoffs across the product lifecycle. Working closely with Design Engineering and Plant Manufacturing Engineering, the Lifecycle Manufacturing Engineer leads manufacturing transfer to the site, where Plant Manufacturing Engineering owns process implementation, qualification, control, and continuous improvement. What You’ll Do... Own manufacturing engineering strategy and execution readiness for assigned products, modules, or components Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) collaboration with Design Engineering teams Define manufacturing strategy, process intent, manufacturing requirements, tolerance strategy, and tooling concepts in partnership with Design Engineering and Plant Manufacturing Engineering. Lead manufacturing planning and readiness activities from NPI through production transition Partner with Plant Manufacturing Engineering teams to support process implementation and production scale-up Identify and resolve manufacturing risks, technical issues, and production constraints Drive trade studies and manufacturing decisions related to cost, yield, throughput, quality, and producibility Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing and quality issues Coordinate across engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, and program management teams Drive product-level manufacturing improvement through cost, yield, cycle-time, producibility, and cross-COE trade studies in partnership with Plant Manufacturing Engineering. Develop and maintain manufacturing strategies, process flows, manufacturing requirements, technical standards, and work-transfer documentation. Serve as the manufacturing representative on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and support program reviews and milestone activities Support capacity planning and manufacturing scalability initiatives for production growth Assess manufacturing impacts of engineering and configuration changes, including producibility, tooling, qualification, inspection, cost, capacity, and production risk. Lead manufacturing participation in APQP activities, including DFMEA review, Characteristic Matrix development, manufacturing risk identification, and production-readiness planning; partner with Plant Manufacturing Engineering and Quality on Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, SPC, and process capability activities.
