<p>Piper Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Suppression &amp; Extinguisher Department Manager to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the suppression department. This position is fully accountable for the department's Profit and Loss (P&amp;L) statements, field quality control, regulatory compliance, and team development. The ultimate goal is to drive business growth while ensuring customer facilities remain safe and fully compliant with fire codes.</p>
<p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Manage daily scheduling, dispatching, and routing efficiency for field service technicians.</li>
<li>Maintain full accountability for the department's gross revenue, profit margins, and operating budgets.</li>
<li>Conduct field spot checks and ride-alongs to audit technician workmanship, customer service, and compliance with NFPA standards.</li>
<li>Recruit, hire, coach, and evaluate the performance of fire protection technicians and administrative support staff.</li>
<li>Enforce local, state, federal, and OSHA guidelines. Lead mandatory safety meetings and "Toolbox Talks".</li>
<li>Coordinate with purchasing to regulate shop material stock levels, tools, and fleet vehicle maintenance.</li>
<li>Partner with sales teams to build strategic customer relationships, upsell services, and secure code-compliance contracts.</li>
<li>Coordinate final project handoffs and system checkouts with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), general contractors, and owners.</li>
<li>Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and working on a computer.</li>
<li>Occasional exposure to outdoor climates, construction noise, and chemical dust from suppression materials</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Required Skills &amp; Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent field management experience).</li>
<li>
<div>5+ years of experience in service-based operations management across multiple facilities, with transferable expertise in field service execution, regulatory compliance, customer support, and team leadership. Fire life safety industry experience, including portable extinguishers and pre-engineered kitchen/industrial suppression systems, is preferred but not required.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div>3+ years in a supervisory or departmental leadership role.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div>Professional state certifications or NICET licensing in fire protection/suppression are highly preferred.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div>Proficiency with service dispatching software, CRM platforms, and ERP suites.</div>
</li>
<li>Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.</li>
<li>
<div>Ability to split time between an office environment and active field job sites.</div>
</li>
<li>Capability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and ascend stairs.</li>

Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.</em></span></p>
