Role Overview Technician Generator (2025-1280) Role Overview • The Generator Technician is responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on standby generators and associated electrical systems. This role requires a mechanically inclined and detail-oriented professional who takes pride in delivering top-quality customer service. The ideal candidate ensures reliable, safe, and code-compliant generator performance for every client. What You Bring • Must haave a minimum of 1 year of experience working on gas engines, electrical wiring, or similar mechanical systems. - Prior experience with generator installation, maintenance, or repair is highly preferred. - Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting principles. - Excellent communication and customer service skills. - Proven problem-solving ability and attention to detail. - Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team. - Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions accurately. - Familiarity with tools, testing instruments, and diagnostic equipment used in generator service. - Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift 70+ lbs. - Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. - Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. - Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record. Preferred Skills & Certifications (a plus, not required) - Experience with major generator brands such as Generac, Kohler, Cummins, or CAT. - Electrical or mechanical trade school certification. - Gas licensing or relevant electrical certifications. - Familiarity with ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) wiring and programming. Key Responsibilities • Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on standby generators and related equipment. - Respond to warranty repairs and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency service calls. - Conduct basic to intermediate electrical troubleshooting and repair of wiring, control panels, voltage regulators, and transfer switches. - Use diagnostic and testing devices to identify, document, and resolve electrical or mechanical issues. - Educate customers on generator operation, maintenance schedules, and system performance. - Deliver exceptional customer service and represent the company professionally on every job site. - Safely use hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical service work. - Transport generator parts, tools, and equipment using a company-provided vehicle. - Ensure all work complies with local electrical and building codes, manufacturer specifications, and company safety standards. - Complete detailed service reports, work orders, and documentation per company policy. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Licenses & Certifications • Driving: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
