Role Overview Technician Generator Install (2025-1144) Role Overview • We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Generator Install Technician to perform the installation and setup of residential and light commercial standby generator systems. This role involves site preparation, electrical and gas connections, start-up testing, and ensuring each system is installed safely, cleanly, and in compliance with all codes and manufacturer standards. The ideal candidate has prior experience installing standby generators, strong electrical or mechanical skills, and a commitment to delivering a five-star customer experience. What You Bring • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience installing generators, electrical systems, or HVAC/mechanical equipment. - Licensing: State electrical or mechanical license preferred; gas fitting experience or certification a plus. - Technical Skills: - Familiarity with brands such as Generac, Kohler, Cummins, or Briggs & Stratton. - Knowledge of both electrical (120/240V, single/three-phase) and gas systems (NG/LP). - Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals. - Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred. - Driving: Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR required. - Physical Requirements: Able to lift 75 lbs; work outdoors, on rooftops, and in confined spaces; perform moderate physical labor in varied weather. Key Responsibilities • Generator Installation: Install and connect standby generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS) per manufacturer specifications and local codes. - Site Preparation: Coordinate and perform site layout, pad installation, conduit runs, and trenching as needed. - Utility Coordination: Work with utility providers for power and gas connections; ensure inspections and permits are completed. - Start-Up & Testing: Perform generator start-up, voltage/frequency checks, and transfer testing to confirm system readiness. - Safety & Compliance: Follow OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70, and NFPA 110 standards; ensure all work passes required inspections. - Customer Communication: Communicate clearly with customers on installation progress, operation basics, and maintenance expectations. - Documentation: Complete job tickets, photos, inspection forms, and installation checklists in company software systems. - Equipment Care: Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles to company standards; report any needed repairs or replacements. - Team Collaboration: Coordinate closely with gas technicians, electricians, and supervisors to ensure timely, quality installations.
