Role Overview Technician Generator Service (2025-1145) Role Overview • We are looking for an experienced and reliable Generator Service Technician to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential and light commercial standby generators. This role is essential in keeping our customers’ backup power systems operating safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate has a strong electrical and mechanical background, experience with natural gas and propane-fueled systems, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work and outstanding customer service. What You Bring • Experience: Minimum 3 years of generator, electrical, or mechanical service experience (Generac, Kohler, Cummins, or Briggs & Stratton preferred). - Licensing: State electrician or mechanical license preferred; manufacturer certifications (Generac, Kohler, etc.) a plus. - Technical Skills: - Strong understanding of single- and three-phase electrical systems (120/240V, 208V, 480V). - Knowledge of gas (NG/LP) fuel delivery systems, control panels, and ATS operation. - Skilled in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals. - Education: High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical school training preferred. - Driving: Valid driver’s license with clean MVR required. - Physical Requirements: Lift up to 75 lbs; work outdoors and in confined spaces; perform moderate physical labor in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on standby generator systems, including oil changes, filter replacements, and battery testing. - Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and fuel system issues on generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS). - System Testing: Conduct start-up, load testing, and system performance checks to ensure reliable operation. - Safety & Compliance: Follow OSHA, NFPA 70 (NEC), and NFPA 110 standards; ensure all work complies with manufacturer guidelines and local codes. - Documentation: Accurately complete work orders, maintenance logs, and inspection reports in the field management system. - Customer Service: Explain findings, repairs, and recommendations clearly to customers; educate them on maintenance and operation best practices. - Inventory & Equipment: Maintain tools, parts inventory, and company vehicle in a clean and professional manner. - Team Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, gas, and installation teams to support cross-departmental needs and emergency response.
