What’s in it for you:
The HVAC Technician supports Trane Rental Services operations by ensuring Commercial HVAC Rental fleet is prepared to meet customer needs. This role is primarily based in the Service Center, where technicians ensure equipment is ready for deployment and returned equipment is restored to operating condition for the next rental.
Trane Rental Services provides temporary heating, cooling, and power solutions to commercial and industrial customers. Equipment is shipped from the Service Center to customer locations, where technicians may occasionally assist with installation, startup, and equipment repairs at the job site. Once equipment is returned, this role is responsible for completing inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and refurbishment.
This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset. The technician works closely with internal teams and may also interact with customers, vendors, and project managers during equipment delivery, setup, and return.
What you will do:
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC rental equipment at the Service Center
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system issues and complete corrective actions
- Support equipment startup, commissioning, and operational testing before shipment and upon return
- Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and movement of rental equipment within the Service Center, requires the ability to operate powered industrial vehicles
- Support field installation, startup, and teardown of rental equipment at customer sites as needed
- Work with team leaders, project managers, and operations teams to prioritize equipment readiness and customer demand
- Accurately document inspections, repairs, service activity, and equipment condition
- Maintain accountability for company-issued tools, equipment, and Service Center assets
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements in shop and job site environments
- Maintain flexibility to work overtime and occasional overnight travel, based on business needs
- Participation in on-call rotation required (24-hour customer support) and/or when business requirements need to be met.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- At least 2-5 years of experience in commercial HVAC; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience is required.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
- DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
