About this role
The Salesperson / Account Executive is responsible for turning qualified opportunities into profitable WhiteClouds projects. This role owns the customer relationship from initial qualification through proposal, follow-up, verbal commitment, and close, while coordinating closely with estimating, design, production, and leadership. Success requires responsiveness, disciplined follow-up, accurate CRM management, consultative selling, and consistent achievement of sales goals.
Core expectation: Every viable opportunity should have a clear owner, a current status, and a specific next action with a date. The salesperson is responsible for keeping momentum until the opportunity is won, lost, or intentionally deferred.
Key Responsibilities- Respond promptly and professionally to inbound leads, referrals, existing customers, and assigned opportunities.
- Develop new business through proactive outreach, relationship building, referrals, reactivation of past opportunities, and other approved prospecting methods.
- Qualify opportunities by understanding the customer’s objective, scope, budget, timeline, decision process, and success criteria.
- Work with estimating, design, engineering, and production to develop accurate proposals and realistic customer expectations.
- Present WhiteClouds capabilities and proposals in a way that clearly communicates value, quality, schedule, and relevant alternatives.
- Follow up consistently on open bids and proposals. Do not allow qualified opportunities to become stale because of missed or delayed follow-up.
- Actively advance verbal commitments to signed approvals, deposits, purchase orders, or other defined closing requirements.
- Maintain accurate records in Copper or the company-designated CRM, including contacts, notes, stage, value, next action, next follow-up date, and relevant customer communications.
- Maintain a realistic personal forecast and communicate changes, risks, customer delays, and expected closes promptly.
- Coordinate clean handoffs to production and remain appropriately involved when sales support is needed during execution.
- Build long-term customer relationships that create repeat business, referrals, and expansion opportunities.
- Participate in sales meetings, pipeline reviews, training, and company initiatives and come prepared with accurate opportunity status.
- Demonstrated ability to sell consultatively, build trust, follow through, and ask for the business.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain custom and sometimes complex projects clearly.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing many opportunities at different stages simultaneously.
- Comfort using CRM systems, email, spreadsheets, AI-enabled sales tools, and company reporting systems.
- Self-directed, persistent, responsive, and accountable for results.
- Able to collaborate effectively with creative, technical, estimating, and production teams.
- Experience in custom fabrication, exhibits, experiential marketing, manufacturing, architectural features, themed environments, or related B2B sales is helpful but not required.
- Every active opportunity has a documented next step and next follow-up date.
- Overdue follow-ups are addressed promptly; when an action is intentionally delayed, the reason and revised date are documented.
- Bid requests and customer questions are actively coordinated internally rather than left waiting without ownership.
- CRM information is updated as activity occurs so management reporting reflects the real state of the pipeline.
- Forecasts distinguish between early-stage opportunities, active bids, strong opportunities, verbals, and closed business.
- Lost opportunities are closed out with the best available reason so WhiteClouds can learn from them.
- Customer commitments are not made on price, scope, engineering, or schedule without appropriate internal confirmation.
- Achievement of individual weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets established by management.
- Revenue and gross-margin quality of closed business.
- Speed and consistency of lead response and follow-up.
- Conversion of qualified opportunities and proposals into closed sales.
- Accuracy of pipeline stages, next-action dates, CRM records, and sales forecasts.
- Progression and close rate of verbal commitments and high-probability opportunities.
- Customer satisfaction, repeat business, and quality of internal handoffs.
The salesperson owns the day-to-day advancement of assigned opportunities and is expected to use sound judgment about communication cadence and sales strategy. Pricing exceptions, unusual terms, material scope changes, or commitments that create production or financial risk require appropriate approval. The role is accountable not only for activity, but for converting activity into profitable revenue.
