WhiteClouds is looking for an experienced Welder / Metal Fabricator to help fabricate the structural frames, supports, components, and assemblies used in our custom projects.

This is not a repetitive production welding position. Our Metals team helps build large-scale props, product replicas, dimensional displays, architectural elements, exhibits, signage, sculptures, structural frames, and other one-of-a-kind fabricated products.

You will work primarily with steel and aluminum using MIG, TIG, and laser welding, along with a wide range of metal fabrication equipment. Projects change frequently, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working from drawings, solving fabrication challenges, and building components accurately from concept through final assembly.

Requirements & Duties
  • MIG weld steel and aluminum components
  • TIG weld steel and aluminum as appropriate to the project
  • Perform laser welding as appropriate to the project and experience level
  • Fabricate frames, brackets, supports, bases, structures, and other custom metal components
  • Measure, cut, drill, grind, bend, fit, tack, weld, and finish fabricated components
  • Perform accurate fit-up prior to welding
  • Work with square and rectangular tubing, pipe, angle, channel, plate, sheet metal, and other metal materials
  • Read fabrication drawings, dimensions, templates, cut lists, and production instructions
  • Work with CNC-cut, plasma-cut, laser-cut, formed, and machined components
  • Operate or assist with plasma cutters, hydraulic shears, sheet-metal brakes, tube benders, ironworkers, power rollers, saws, grinders, and other metal fabrication equipment
  • Check fabricated assemblies for dimensions, alignment, squareness, weld quality, and overall workmanship
  • Assist with fabrication and assembly of large structures and oversized custom projects
  • Work collaboratively with Design, Foam, Props, Assembly, Paint, and other production departments
  • Maintain welding equipment, fabrication tools, and an organized work area
  • Follow established safety procedures and proper welding practices
  • Minimum of 1 year of welding, metal fabrication, shop, field, or equivalent welding-school experience preferred
  • Experience with custom fabrication, structural fabrication, sign fabrication, exhibit fabrication, scenic fabrication, or similar work is a plus
  • Experience with aluminum fabrication is a plus
  • Experience with laser welding is a plus
  • Experience with CNC, plasma, forming, or other metal fabrication equipment is a plus
